How to bypass the 300 results limit from Xing prospect search

Anas El Mhamdi ·

To the stars

When scaling B2B lead generation in German-speaking markets, Xing is a critical resource with roughly 20 million active users across Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.

However, Xing enforces stricter limitations than competitors—particularly its “300 profiles per query” cap, compared to LinkedIn’s 2,500-profile allowance through Sales Navigator.

The solution: Search splitting

The technique involves breaking down broad queries into narrower, exclusive filters to retrieve complete prospect pools.

Implementation strategy

Step 1: Geographic division

Start by filtering results by country. Use Germany’s 50 largest cities as a foundation, since Xing provides built-in geographic breakdowns.

Search results

Step 2: Career level segmentation

Within geographic regions, apply career-level filters sequentially:

  • Senior Executive
  • Manager
  • Professional/Experienced
  • Executive

Practical example

A “growth hackers” search yielded 1,543 total profiles. By filtering Germany across four career levels, I obtained approximately 788 profiles, then captured remaining results from other countries in a single additional search.
